  • December 6th, 2002 - 6pm - Crack (for alto saxophone, flute, and electroacoustic accompaniment) performed by Cathie Apple (flute) and Christopher Blossom (sax) on the Electronic Music MidWest Festival at Lewis University in Chicago.
  • December 2002 - Crack (for alto saxophone, flute, and electroacoustic accompaniment) performed by Jean-Michel (sax) and Sophie (fl.) Goury in Strasbourg, FRANCE.
  • November 16th, 2002 - 4pm - Crack (for alto saxophone, flute, and electroacoustic accompaniment) performed by Cathie Apple (flute) and Christopher Blossom (sax) on the OCEAn Festival at Oberlin College.
  • November 16th, 2002 - 3pm - Lecture on Crack by Mikel Kuehn at the OCEAn Festival at Oberlin College.
  • November 12th, 2002 - 8pm - Bowling Green State University New Music Ensemble, Bowling Green State University, Bryan Hall, Bowling Green, OH. Presented a lecture recital on 4 instrumental works: Mikel Kuehn's Contours (2002) (Premiere), Christian Lauba's Jungle (from nine etudes), Webern's Variations, Op. 27, and Matthew Burtner's Portals of Distortion.
  • October 18th, 2002 - 2:30pm - Conducted the BGSU New Music Ensemble in a performance of Matthew Burtner's Portals of Distortion (for nine tenor saxophones).
  • October 18th, 2002 - 10:30am - Crack (for alto saxophone, flute, and electroacoustic accompaniment) performed by Cathie Apple (flute) and Christopher Blossom (sax) on the 23rd Bowling Green New Music & Art Festival.
  • July 21st, 2002 - Crack (for alto saxophone, flute, and electroacoustic accompaniment) performed by Jean-Michel (sax) and Sophie (fl.) Goury in Joinville, FRANCE.
  • July 2002 - Received a Meet the Composer grant to attend a performance of Crack at Oberlin in November.
  • June 2002 - nGen (a multi-platform utility for creating Csound scores and Standard MIDI Files) included on the 3rd printing of The Csound Book CD-ROMS (MIT Press, 2000).  This application is now available for free download (Mac/PC/Linux Intel/IRIX).
  • June 20th, 2002 - 8pm - Crack (for alto saxophone, flute, and electroacoustic accompaniment) performed by Jean-Michel (sax) and Sophie (fl.) Goury at "World Chamberfest 2002" at New England Conservatory, Jordan Hall, Boston, USA.

  • April 22nd-26th, 2002 - New York, NY. Attended the Oliver Knussen Workshop on the Music of Elliott Carter at Carnegie Hall.
  • March, 2002 - Cycles performed on Pianist Yoko Hirota's Concert of Contemporary Piano Music - Huntington University in Sudbury, Ontario, CANADA.
  • March 23rd, 2002. Served on the panel "The role of the Orchestra in the 21st Century" with David Gompper, Marilyn Shrude, and Cia Toscanini at the 2002 Society of Composers, Inc. National Student Conference.
  • March 23rd, 2002. Served on the adjudication panel of the SCI/ASCAP student commission contest.
  • March 22nd, 2002 - Crack (for alto saxophone, flute, and electroacoustic accompaniment) performed by Jean-Michel (sax) and Sophie (fl.) Goury in Toledo, SPAIN.
  • March 21st, 2002. Conducted the world premieres of new chamber works by Joe Dangerfield and Moiya Callahan on the 2002 Society of Composers, Inc. National Student Conference. The concert also involved organizing a performance of Ligeti's Poeme Symphonique for 100 Metronomes .
  • March 21st - 23rd, 2002. Served as Artistic Director of the 2002 Society of Composers, Inc. National Student Conference (hosted at BGSU).
  • February 25th, 2002 - 3pm - Cycles performed on Pianist Yoko Hirota's Concert of Contemporary Piano Music - University of Saskatchewan, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, CANADA.
  • February 13th, 2002 - 8pm - Faculty Composers' Concert, Bowling Green State University, Bryan Recital Hall, Bowling Green, OH. Performance of ...remembrance of things past... - 2-channel electroacoustic music.
  • February 11th, 2002 - 8pmFirst Hearing concert, Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Orchestra Hall, Chicago, IL. World premiere of Deus ex machina for orchestra, Cliff Colnot, conductor. This work was commissioned for the Civic Orchestra through the Chicago Symphony's First Hearing program. The concert included a short introduction of the work to the audience from the stage of Orchestra Hall (by Mikel Kuehn) and was followed by a post-concert panel discussion with the composers of the works on the concert.

Activities 2001

  • November 15th, 2001 - Noon - Bowling Green State University New Music Ensemble, Bowling Green State University, Bryan Hall, Bowling Green, OH. Presented a lecture/demonstration of instrumental improvisation and real-time computer processing with the students enrolled in the New Music Ensemble.
  • Fall 2001: Echoes: for two marimbas (co-authored with Shawn Schietroma), published by Drop 6 Media (Denton, TX).

  • June 2001 - Received a commission from the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's First Hearing Program. The work will be premiered by the Civic Orchestra of Chicago (Cliff Colnot, conductor) on February 11th, 2002 at Orchestra Hall, Chicago, IL.
